As you may have noticed, several Sahara Smoke Co. hookahs have been featured in Hollywood movies. This means exciting things for the hookah industry as a whole -- Most importantly that hookahs are exploding onto the main scene and becoming more and more popular with each passing week. Sahara Smoke Co. Hookahs as seen in Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay (2008 New Line Cinema)
A Sahara Candy Stripe Hookah featured in Zombieland (2009 Columbia Pictures) as the battered protagonists relax in Bill Murray’s penthouse apartment.
A Sahara Dicro Hookah featured in Jack Goes Boating (2010 Big Beach Films) as Jack prepares dinner for his friends at his apartment.
A Sahara Hookah featured in Through The Eye (2011 Indy Mogul) as the boat crew enjoys a final night of partying and ball busting before departing for their smuggling run. Featuring Howard McNair, Ryan Caldwell, Shannan Stewart, Robert Thorne, Kevin Brooks and Kimmy Saracino.
Though, as hookahs reach into mainstream media more than ever we’re going to have to educate the public on their history and true purpose. In all of the pictured movies the hookahs are tied in with paraphernalia in some fashion, a stereotype most hookah smokers would rather avoid. A Quick Reminder: These hookahs are not being used as intended and it will be up to you, as a fan of the tradition, to educate those around you. Hookahs will continue to spread rapidly throughout newer media as their popularity grows – and will hopefully be recognized as the powerful social tradition they are. |
